Public Works (Joram Lürsen) and Kidnap (Diederik Ebbinge) are supported by the Netherlands Film Production Incentive. The Netherlands Film Production Incentive offers a 30% cash rebate on eligible Dutch spend and is launched this year to boost the Netherland’s attractiveness to international filmmakers.
Public Works, produced by Topkapi Films in co-production with distributor Wild Bunch, broadcaster VPRO and publisher Querido and international co-producers Menuet (Belgium), I’M FILM and Mythberg Films (Hungary) receives €589.540,- support. Public Works is based on Thomas Rosenboom’s best-selling and award winning novel ‘Publieke Werken’, and tells the story of Vedder and Anijs (Gijs Scholten van Aschat, Jacob Derwig), who wish to rise above their current station in life and see a massive construction project adjacent to Vedder’s small house in Central Amsterdam as an opportunity to make an inordinate amount of money for them– but to do so, they will have to outsmart a ruthless property tycoon.
Kidnap, produced by Topkapi Films and Storytellers Film & TV in coproduction with Menuet (Belgium), Mona Film Produktion (Austria) and KRO-NCRV receives €190.367,- support. Kidnap – Bo’s most exciting holiday ever is a family film written by Karen van Holst Pellekaan (Loonies II, Cool kids don’t cry) and tells the story of Bo (Teun Stokkel), a rich kid who has everything he ever wished for except the attention and love of his parents (Marcel Musters, Katrien van Beurden). Until he gets kidnapped and unexpectedly builds up a friendship with his clumsy kidnapper Fred (Martin van Waardenberg).
