DIRECTOR TIM MIELANTS STARTS SHOOTING WIL

Director Tim Mielants starts shooting WIL

Last week, director Tim Mielants has started shooting WIL, the book adaptation of the bestseller of the same name by Jeroen Olyslaegers.

WIL tells the story of three young people who attempt to survive in an occupied city, in which Stef Aerts, Matteo Simoni, and up-and-coming talent Annelore Crollet portray the main roles.
Furthermore, director Tim will be accompanied by a fantastic ensemble cast.

Topkapi Films is the proud co-producer of this film.

The roles in this thrilling drama set in World War II in Antwerp will be portrayed by the top of Belgian and Dutch actors, namely Dirk Roofthooft, Kevin Janssens, Koen De Bouw, Jan Bijvoet, Els Dottermans, Jan Decleir, Frieda Pittoors, Frank Vercruyssen, Ariane Van Vliet, Tine Van den Wyngaert, Sofie Decleir, Valentijn Dhaenens, Felix Meyer and Marc Lauwrys from Belgium. From the Netherlands Pierre Bokma and Karina Smulders have joined the cast. Last but not least, the German Dimitri Schaad and Pit Bukowski, and the Polish Szymon Wroblewski play an important part.

WIL is Tim Mielants sophomore film, following DE PATRICK, which received national as well as  international recognition.

On top of that, he has directed the established international series PEAKY BLINDERS and LEGION.

Carl Joos (DE PREMIER, RITUEEL) has adapted the bestseller by Jeroen Olyslaegers for the film’s screenplay.
Director of Photography Robrecht Heyyaert (ZILLION, BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, PATSER) is also on the team.

The shooting of the film will take place in all of Belgium and Poland and will last until mid-July.

WIL is produced by Lecter Scripted Media, Menuetto en Minds Meet in co-production with Les Film du Fleuve (Wallonia), Topkapi Films (The Netherlands), and K & K Selekt Films (Poland).
WIL is supported by the VAF/Filmfund, Screen Flanders, Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel (CCA), the Belgian tax shelter, the Dutch Film Fund, the Dutch Production Incentive, Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD), and Netflix.

The novel WIL was first published by Publisher De Bezige Bij in 2016.

WIL will be distributed by Paradiso Filmed Entertainment in Dutch cinemas.
