Topkapi TV series Turbulent Skies has been selected by the Dutch Cultural Media Fund!

Drama television series Turbulent Skies (original title: Vliegende Hollanders) is supported for the treatment development phase.

The Jury about Turbulent Skies: ‘An interesting piece of Dutch history is revealed in a compelling narrative about the fate of the lifelong rivalry between two opposite personalities: entrepreneurs Plesman and Fokker. This Story Rocks!’

As founders of the Dutch aviation, idealist Albert Plesman and opportunist Anthony Fokker, are inextricably bound together. They cannot live with or without each other. During the interwar period and in spite of their differences, they pull off setting up civil aviation in the Netherlands, when the world is heading for a new war.

In its final year of existence, the Dutch Cultural Media fund grants 65.000 euros to the treatment development phase of four different drama series with potential for international display. Upcoming November, the fund will announce which two projects will receive an additional grant for script development. The Jury selected the projects based on multiple components like originality, theme, dramatic structure, character development, potential for international display and team composition.
