Last Sunday Carlos Reygadas won the Best Director Award at the 65th edition of the Cannes Film Festival with his film Post Tenebras Lux.

Carlos Reygadas said, receiving the award: “I would like to thank the Festival who believed in this film, the Jury who awarded this film that was made in freedom, a Jury made up of free men and women. I would also like to thank the audience and the press who have continuously flattered me.”

After the Special Jury Award for Stellet Licht in 2007, this is the second prize the Cannes festival has awarded to Reygadas. Both films were coproduced by Topkapi Films (former Motel Films).

Post Tenebras Lux is a Mexican/French/German/Dutch coproduction, produced by Mantarraya, NoDream Cinema, Foprocine, Ticoman, Le Pacte, Arte France Cinema, The Match Factory and Topkapi Films, with support from the Netherlands Film Fund.
