Daan Schuurmans and Fedja van Huêt will star in the adventurous drama series Turbulent Skies, which will start shooting from the beginning of June.
As the founders of Dutch aviation, idealist Albert Plesman (Daan Schuurmans) and opportunist Anthony Fokker (Fedja van Huêt), are inextricably bound together. They can’t live with each other or without. Nevertheless, during the interwar period when the world is heading towards a new war, they join forces to set up civil aviation in the Netherlands. The rise of aviation at the time meant the same for humanity as the internetrevolution does today. The eight-part series is expected in the fall of 2020 on AVROTROS (NPO 1).
Turbulent Skies was written by writers room Winchester McFly, led by Thomas van der Ree, who is known for The Resistance Banker, that was awarded with four Golden Calves. The directorial reigns are in hands of Joram Lürsen, also known for The Resistance Banker and Love is All, Judas and A Noble Intention. The series is produced by Topkapi Films in coproduction with AVROTROS.
The series is developed with the support of the NPO Fund, the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA of the European Union and the Netherlands Production Incentive for high-end TV-series.
